What is physical distancing?

Covid-19 FAQ's

Physical distancing (also sometimes referred to as “social distancing”) is the practice of limiting close contact with other people in order to help slow the spread of an infectious disease, such as COVID-19. It is one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of a virus and illness.

Practically speaking, physical distancing means keeping about 2 meters (6 feet) of space between yourself and other people who do not live in your household. This distance is about the size of a queen-sized bed.

If for any reason it is not possible to maintain this distance, it is very important to take other precautions to help prevent the spread of the virus (i.e. wearing a mask, wearing protective eye wear, being in a well-ventilated area).
